On 16th November 2025, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) commemorated the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka Under the theme” “LOST TALENT”, the day was characterized with a somber mood as Zambians remembered their loves ones who either died or survived road traffic accidents. The function also attracted testimonies from road traffic accident survivors and relatives of those who died in the accidents.
Minister of Transport and Logistics, Hon. Museba Frank Tayali, officiated at the function. He was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Mr. Fredrick Mwalusaka and RTSA Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba. His message invited Zambians to reflect deeply on the human cost of road crashes, lives abruptly taken, families shattered, and dreams never realised. He said each name remembered today represents a story of love, laughter, and purpose that ended too soon. On behalf of Government and the people of Zambia, Hon. Tayali conveyed heartfelt condolences to all families who have lost loved ones on roads.
“Your pain is our pain. Your loss is our loss and strengthens our collective determination to act and to act decisively. To the survivors among us, you are not just victims; you are symbols of courage and resilience,” said Hon. Tayali. “Your scars, both visible and invisible, speak of the battles you have fought to reclaim your lives. Your survival is a triumph of spirit, and your stories remind us that road safety is not an abstract idea. It is about preserving life, dignity, and hope.”
And Mr. Mweemba emphasised RTSA’s resolve to ensure road safety is enhanced across the country. He urged all road users to respect and obey traffic rules.
