The Ministry of Transport and Logistics was created in September, 2021 following the realignment of the mandate and functions of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The Ministry draws its mandate from Government Gazette Notice No.1123 of 2021 and is mandated to coordinate the development, policy and regulation of the transport and logistics sector.
Specifically, the Ministry is responsible for the following portfolio functions: –
Airports, Aerodromes and Airstrips; Aviation Training; Canals and waterways; Civil Aviation and Airways Policy; Control of Government Transport; Flight Services; Government Fleet Management; Government Printing and Gazetting; Pontoons and Mechanical Services; Railways Policy; Road Traffic Policy and Road Transport Policy
